Are you worried about your health and future hold?

Does your future worry you?  Do your nagging health concerns chip away at your confidence? This back of the mind worry can be at the back of your mind for years.  Perhaps you don’t notice it at first but then something happens and that anxious feeling that has been lingering in the back of your mind pushes its way forward.  I have worked with clients who have had this concern for years and felt that now was the time to move on, take action and get their life and health on track, which is why I wrote this blog. To explore the reasons that clients have told me that they held themselves back for years before moving forward.

Do you scream: “I want to be the ‘real me?

When I client said this to me a few months ago, I was confused and if I am honest I didn’t understand.  Then she went explained she was fed up with all the crap on the shelves and never knew what to eat, she felt her choices were “always wrong.”

  • There is never anyone to talk to.
  • I just want to feel ‘normal’.
  • I’m fit but not eating right.
  • I feel alone

I do appreciate it is very frustrating and most of the time you can simply navigate around or through the confusion until something in your life takes a big swerve. It could be:

  • an ageing parent needing your help,
  • an errant teenager sapping you of energy,
  • or maybe even a divorce.
  • redundancy

Life happens, an event like divorce or redundancy takes over your life and where does this leave you personally? How are your health and well-being affected by these changes? Do you even recognise yourself? Are you the same person that you were 20 years ago?

Why do you feel you have to do everything?

I understand in order to get things done and feel safe you control everything.  Nobody can do it as fast or as well as you. Many women are ‘control freaks’.  Another phrase which is popular is a ‘recovering perfectionist’ Why is it that you try to control every situation?

  • The simple reason is it is the way you cope.
  • It is your defense mechanism.
  • It is how you weather the many demands in your busy life.

I talk a lot about this in my best-selling book, Gorgeous! If you want to make nutritional changes but feel overwhelmed and confused by conflicting information and you’re left bewildered where to start then pick up a copy of Gorgeous!

Is your ‘to-do’ list a security blanket?

Being in control allows you a sense of calm. It sounds crazy but when you have a plan you can just do your ‘to-do list’ and nothing more.  Your list is a security blanket.

The problem with this security blanket is that you have to rely on everything and everyone is in the right place at the right time. Everybody sticking to the plan! But what if they don’t, what if life happens, what happens if an extra load is added?  It may be redundancy, illness, or something less stressful but equally as impactful as menopause.

Living your life with that level of anxiety is not sustainable.  If everything has to be done your way it means you are doing it.  If you are doing everything and thinking for everyone, your long-term health is going to suffer.

Do you feel that it is all too much?

  • Are you losing your motivation?
  • Smiling on the outside but crying on the inside?
  • Do you know what is right when it comes to your food choices?
  • Are you eating the right things for your level of activity?

Do you want to find out more? The Get Gorgeous journey will change the way you look at food, health, and exercise forever and give you the soul support you have been craving. Reach out and book a complimentary session with me. I guarantee you will find clarity, a path to move forward.

It is easy to stay stuck not to move on, wait another year, until you have some time, some money, or until you’ve reached the next stage in life.  What are you waiting for, why are you so stuck?

I’ve outlined below some of the reasons I have heard why women get stuck in a rut, the never-ending ‘to do’ list of jobs and worries, until something big happens and everything is pushed into perspective.

5 common reasons why women get stuck

1. Lack of self-confidence

Belief in yourself is hard and pushing into the edge of your comfort zone when everybody is already demanding your attention is exhausting.

You know you are brilliant at your day to day activities, multi-tasking, getting the job done.   Your to-do list offers you no challenge, you can plough through that and nobody gets in your way.  However dramatic life changes can change the course of your life in a second.  Changes that bring an extra burden and can affect your life. The extra work drains you of your youthful vigour and your powerful ‘can-do’ belief system.

NOW  is your time to re-energise and re-boot that belief system before it is too late.

2. Fear of failure

Failing is the most common reason women tell me that they are scared of taking the first step.  What if I fail?  What if I can’t do it?  Having that thought on repeat rinse is going to keep you in the same place.  Where are you going to be in 3 months time if you don’t take your first step today?

3. Working with conflicting pieces of information

Conflicting information is a great source of stress and creates a confusing approach. Conflicting advice from family and well-meaning friends means you don’t know where to go or what to do. You take on board a snippet here, a morse of advice there and it all seems contradictory and leading nowhere. FAST.

4. Going it alone

No plan just great intentions and a positive attitude will wain if you don’t have a clear objective and a pre-determined path. Step by step chunking things down into manageable bits that work for you. When you are so close to the problem, it is hard to see a way forward. You need clarity, a calm objective view.

5. BUSY always busy no time for me!

That is a hard one, I get it. You are busy, so busy. Too busy to spend time on yourself.  The underlining issue is if you don’t make time for yourself where is it going to lead? What will your future look like?  Same health problems as your parents?

Are you busy for busy sake?  Are your activity levels linked to your self-esteem or maybe even your self-confidence?  If you are busy you don’t have to investigate what you are really hiding from.

“Imagine how quickly you could improve your health if you had support?”

Support and gentle guidance. Imagine a hand to hold and reassurance that you are you doing the right thing, where you can fulfill your personal challenge to yourself for that day.

I don’t doubt for one moment that you can DO everything you need to do for everyone else in your life. But the question is where is your support? Who can you turn to for comfort, direction and support?

“Isn’t it time you had some time for yourself?”

I invite you to draw a line in the sand and reconnect with yourself.  Imagine what life would be like without having that nagging feeling at the back of your mind about your health and your weight?  The freedom to cope with life and the space to be reflective?

Take a moment to get life into perspective.

If you take care of your health you could tackle the rest of your life with ease.  Increased energy and a calm outlook would help you to accomplish all your other goals.   You don’t need to do this all on your own. You don’t need to be alone.  It all starts with one small step.
