The importance of positivity to your health

This blog outlines 5 things you can do to how you can reset your mind, have a positive outcome and become more focused on what you want in life not what you ‘should’ have. It is a subtle difference in thinking that makes a huge difference to your health.  This blog will outline how a positive mindset can help you stay happy and become healthier. Be it until you believe it, is a kinder way of saying Fake It Until You Make It.   Both expressions are implying that a positive way of approaching your daily tasks or a new habit will have a healthier effect on the outcome and the longevity of the results.


Your Positive Attitude makes a difference in your health

Have you ever wondered why some friends who have been brought up in a similar background to you, work in a similar job and yet she seems far happier than you? Or why some women seem to excel and seem to be on top of the world.  Why does everything look to be going their way?

And then there are the friends who talk about everything that is wrong with the world, moans every day, bleats on about why they can’t lose weight or why their kids are always squabbling? Is always ready to blame something or someone

I am too busy, I never have enough money, my family are holding me back, my husband won’t support me .”

Why is it that some people seem to have it all and life looks so easy for them?   Perhaps like me they are simply ‘faking it till they make it’   If anyone asks me how I am feeling I reply ‘great, fantastic couldn’t be better.’  It isn’t because I am being a pain in the arse, upbeat nauseating character, oh perhaps I am.  It is because I am talking to my subconscious, I am simply being it until I believe it.

I am putting myself in a good mood.  I am smiling even when I am crying.

That doesn’t mean that it is good to hide your emotions all day every day, it simply means show the world a happier face and reap the rewards.

You can take your life to the next level with positive daily habits rather than just sitting there and simply wishing and hoping for more.

Dean Graziosi in his book* asks you to imagine a farmer gets up every single day and he puts his grain on the back of the tractor and drives out a mile into the pasture to feed the cows and they all come running. He dumps the feed and goes back to the barn. If he gets up every single day for ten, fifteen, twenty years and starts the tractor, puts the feed in the back and goes out to the same field, what will eventually happen? He’ll build ruts on the path to the cows.

Eventually, he could just get up, throw the grain in the back, start the tractor, and let go of the wheel. That tractor will take him right out to that same spot he’s been going to for years.

Have you let go of the wheel? Do you have ruts that keep you doing the same thing every day? It doesn’t necessarily mean your entire life is in a rut, but do you unconsciously do the same things daily expecting a different result?

Do you have habits that make every day the same whilst hoping that something else like an outside factor will change your outcome? Your gorgeous journey starts with small changes, small changes that crowd out the bad habits.

You can do this with one positive thought a day and slowly and in time you will ease out those negative thoughts

Ways to be Positive Every day

1. Watch your thoughts

The law of attraction declares that what you think about you bring about.

“Happiness does not depend on what you have or who you are. It solely relies on what you think.” Gautama Buddha

Your thoughts have a frequency and a corresponding unique vibration that attracts similar frequencies into your life. So negative thinking attracts negative energy; positive thinking attracts positive energy.

2. Positive Affirmations 

Emile Coue, a French pharmacist and psychologist, believed in the power of positive affirmations, achieving phenomenal recovery rates in his clinics as a result. Dr Coue taught each of his patients to say “Every day, in every way, I’m feeling better and better.” He believed in the power of mindful autosuggestion.

3. Connect with Yourself

Tune into your emotions and notice how you feel.

Sitting with yourself on a daily basis gives you the opportunity to find out how you are feeling, and prepares you for life’s little adventures.  You can use mirror work which is a more effective way to say your affirmations.

Louise Hay’s describes affirmations in the mirror as……” the most effective method I’ve found for learning to love yourself and see the world as a safe and loving place”


4. Practice Visualization

Create a dream board with your perfect room or house or holiday.  Look at that dream board every day and visualise yourself there.  Your mind cannot distinguish between what it sees in your mind and what it sees in real life.  That explains why you feel such a strong connection to your favourite TV personality, you feel like you know them.

Creating a dream board is like designing a sacred space that displays what you want. Your dream board brings your ideas to life. What you focus on expands into your life. When you create a vision board and place it in a space where you see it every day, you essentially end up doing short visualization exercises throughout the day.

5. Be Kind To Yourself

It is particularly difficult to stay positive in the face of adversity and failure. For many women it may feel easier to show compassion to others, it may be hard to accept and be compassionate toward yourself.

Instead of the usual critical comments like ‘I’m so rubbish, I’m always doing that’, ‘why do I always say the wrong thing’, ‘nobody will talk to me when I am this overweight’

Instead, search for alternative ways to talk to yourself that is kinder. Not only will this improve your self-confidence but it is also one way in which to improve your health, well-being and fight off the negative feelings often associated with low mood and anxiety.

What was your health like before you joined Get Gorgeous?

“I’d noticed that I was getting a lot of colds. I’m also an academic so being in a school type environment so I was getting a lot of colds, but also I was feeling rather lethargic.

“When I was a lot younger, it was easy just to cut certain foods out, you know, because predominantly, it is a weight thing for me but actually it’s not.  I appreciate now that my weight is the outcome of what it was that I was putting into my body

I’ve tried typical other diets which worked for two to three weeks and then as soon as I eat normally, as I would call it, it all comes flooding back.

I like food and I’m the sort of person if you tell me I can’t have something then I want it all the more so I don’t want to be deprived and obviously what had happened is that you know, ‘

“I am active and I don’t want to feel hungry”

I have a dog and I’m quite active, but my body’s got used to that, so in order for me to change anything about me physically, there needed to be the combination of different food choices and moving more.

So whereas previously it was just a case of just not eating as much, and not changing anything on the movement side, and I think for a long time, actually, I was eating the wrong things and also not enough. My body was feeling constantly starved. – Yes. – But I’d be thinking, “I’m very hungry, “therefore I must be losing weight,” and then being disappointed. When actually, the scales were going the opposite way and I was confused, you know, because historically, put less in, the weight dropped off but that’s because my makeup was different then. I was a lot younger,

I realized when I hit my 40s that actually I needed some additional help with that because my old-fashioned habits weren’t working anymore and I think that’s been it, and as a result, I know when I’ve not drunk enough water now because I’m thirsty, and I know what thirsty means and I know what hungry means in my body”

“Now I feel more confident, proactive about managing my business because I am mindful of looking after myself”
